Our Purpose
To reduce the health, economic, and social costs associated with tobacco use, the DOH-Seminole Tobacco Prevention Program implemented a comprehensive tobacco control program which includes media counter-marketing and advertising, the Florida Quit-for-Life line, training programs for health professionals (AHEC), community-based presentations, and Student Working Against Tobacco. As part of the community-based programming, DOH-Seminole Tobacco Prevention Program provides mini grants to schools and community organization to enhance community-based tobacco prevention and control partnerships. Community-based programs influence people at home, work, schools, health care settings, and other public places; changing policies influences organizations, systems, and networks to create strong change.
